Every year the CVSA (Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance) conducts a North America wide inspection blitz of commercial vehicles. This will significantly increase the number of commercial units being inspected at both inspection facilities and roadside locations throughout various jurisdictions. These inspection are not just for the heavy truck units, but can include virtually any type of commercial vehicle, roofers, landscapers, etc. Taking place each June, this year the inspection blitz will run from June 4 – 6. Attached is some information to help you understand the inspections.

On January 25, 2013, the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench approved a $10.35 million penalty against Griffiths Energy International Inc. for a violation of the Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act in connection with the actions of the company's previous management and representatives in Chad, Africa. Although the CFPOA has been in force since 1999, the Griffiths conviction is the second significant conviction rendered under Canada’s foreign anti-corruption legislation to date, and as such constitutes important guidance regarding the position of the courts, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Crown in respect of the prosecution of foreign corrupt practices.
