Joel Askew

Unit Manager, Commercial Services

Joel joined Navacord in 2021 as a Risk Technician and has progressed to his current role as Unit Manager, Commercial Services. He also serves as a Risk Advisor, acting as Account Lead or co-account lead on several complex commercial accounts.

Joel works closely with a broad range of clients, including large and multinational organizations, with a focus on energy, industrial, marine, and technology clients. In addition to his client responsibilities, he helps lead Navacord’s team of Risk Technicians, overseeing service delivery, workflow, and the development of junior team members.

Joel also serves as a Cyber Excellence Lead within his office, supporting both clients and colleagues with guidance on cyber and crime insurance, and providing insight on emerging risks and market trends.

Joel graduated from the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business with a Bachelor of Commerce in Energy Management. He holds a Risk Management Certificate from the Insurance Institute of Canada.
